BELIEFS
Our beliefs are rooted in the Bible and centered on Jesus Christ. Who He is and what He accomplishes is central to who we are and all that we do. In addition to our statement of faith, we hold to the classic Creeds of the Christian faith.
God
We believe there is one triune God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is consistent in His purposes, promises, and character, being perfectly holy, just, good, faithful, merciful, and loving. As the one true and living God, He is all-knowing, all-powerful, and present everywhere. He is the creator, sustainer, and ruler of the world.
Jesus
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, fully divine and fully human. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose bodily from the dead. He ascended into heaven, where He sits on His throne at the right hand of God the Father, where He rules the church, the earth, and the universe as Lord of all. He is the anticipated Messiah (Christ) of the Old Testament, through whom all of God’s promises are fulfilled. Faith in Jesus Christ is the only way sinners can be reconciled to God. Jesus will personally return to the earth to fully establish God’s kingdom as its rightful ruler, judge, and king.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is fully divine. The Spirit reveals and glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ, convicts the world of sin, and calls people to a relationship with the Father. Through faith in Christ, the Spirit unites believers with Jesus by regenerating spiritually dead sinners and justifying them before God. By the Spirit, believers are renewed, sanctified, and adopted into God’s family. The Spirit dwells within every believer – gifting, guiding, instructing, equipping, and empowering followers of Jesus for service to God and the church in order to reach the world.
Revelation
While knowledge of God’s existence and power can be discerned through His creation, God has most clearly made Himself known in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, as attested in Scripture. The Holy Scriptures are inspired by God and reveal all we need to know for understanding God, the human condition, and God’s plan of redemption and restoration.
Humanity
We believe people were created by God, in God’s image, and are deeply valued and loved by God. But all of humanity has rebelled against God, falling into sin, distorting that image and fracturing their relationship with God, with one another, with themselves, and with the world He created. But God graciously offers salvation and restoration through Christ alone. God invites each individual, from every tribe and language and people and nation, to repent and place their personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. God calls believers to delight in and serve Him as they pursue a holy life.
The Church
We believe the church is comprised of all of those who have saving faith in Jesus Christ, presently and throughout history. God has entrusted the church on earth, consisting of local congregations, with the joyful task of worshipping him and edifying its members. He calls believers to teach and bear faithful witness to the truth, by making disciples of all nations and enjoying His presence as He dwells among them. The church serves as God’s representative on earth until the glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ when humanity and all of creation will be renewed and restored. Those who have not placed their faith in Jesus will experience eternal separation from God. But believers will be raised bodily from the dead and spend eternity in the presence of God, loving and worshipping Him forever.
